This Cookie Policy explains how BetterJobs, LLC ("BetterJobs", "we"), the operator of CommentQuest (the "Service"), uses cookies and similar technologies. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies, such as local storage, work in comparable ways. Cookies can be "first-party" (set by us) or "third-party" (set by another provider), and they can be "session" cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent" cookies (kept for a set period).

We currently use only strictly necessary cookies, which are required for the Service to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are used to:

  • Authentication and sessions — to sign you in and keep you signed in securely. These are secure, HTTP-only session cookies set by our authentication provider.
  • Security — to protect against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) and other abuse, and to keep your session safe.

Because these cookies are strictly necessary to deliver a service you have requested, they do not require consent under the EU ePrivacy rules and the GDPR. We do not currently use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking cookies.

3. Categories of cookies

  • Strictly necessary (in use) — required to run the Service, sign you in, and keep it secure. Always active.
  • Functional (not currently used) — would remember preferences and choices.
  • Analytics (not currently used) — would help us understand how the Service is used. If we add these, we will request your consent first.
  • Advertising (not used) — we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

4. Consent and your choices

If and when we introduce non-essential cookies (for example, analytics), we will ask for your prior, opt-in consent through a cookie banner before setting them, let you accept or reject each category, and let you change or withdraw your choice at any time. Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent.

You can also control cookies through your browser settings, including deleting existing cookies and blocking new ones. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in and using the Service.

5. Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date and, where required, request renewed consent.
